BLOOD GODS

They descended from Heaven, sons and daughters of the Sun and Moon. They had unearthly knowledge and wisdom. They led the people out of poverty and hardship. They created cities and temples. The gods marched at the heads of armies and smote their enemies with terrible power. To give up a small number of the people’s own sons and daughters was but a small sacrifice for all the great protection and prosperity they provided.

They descended the earth in the guise of beautiful men and women, splendid in their nakedness, pleasurable to behold. Their priests and priestesses were imbued with great power, and their love was spread among the people.

In return the gods demanded blood sacrifice, and it was given. But as their empires grew in size and influence, they argued among themselves. The land fell into war. The clash of the gods and their soldiers was mighty and terrible.

Ishtar the lioness, Quetzal the winged serpent, Dracu the bat and Huitzil the snake. These are the Blood Gods, the Chimera.
