A Space Marine Drop Pod lands among the Tau and Kroot forces

Bang on target, Matthew´s Drop Pod arrives in the rear of the Tau infantry. The Space Marines pile out and open up on the Tau with their bolters set to Rapid Fire. However, there are relatively few casualties. Mike is hoping that despite the enemy in his rear, he can turn and decimate them at close range with his Fire Warriors, then assault them with the Kroot. Not visible in the photos, there is an exchange of fire between the two XV88s and the Scout Snipers and Dreadnought, with the XV88s concentrating their fire on the Dreadnought. The Dreadnought takes a hit and blows up.

Well, the plan to turn around and decimate the Space Marines didn´t quite work out as well as hoped. Shooting casualties were again light, and a bloody melee ensued, with the Kroot joining in as well. Needless to say, the Fire Warriors couldn´t stand up to the Space Marines in close combat, but the Kroot can hold their own.

The combat between the Kroot and the Space Marines lasted several turns, with their numbers being gradually whittled down. This photo shows the last of them locked in close combat.

Meanwhile, on the other flank, the Tau took an aggressive stance against the mobile arm of the Space Marine force, consisting as it did of Land Speeders and specialist assault marines. Eventually, the combined firepower of the Tau Seeker Missiles, Crisis suits and Broadside suits took out the Land Speeders, but they just couldn´t stop the assault squad as well. This photo show the Pathfinders pouring fire into the Assault Squad as the Devilfish detaches its Gun Drones.
