These are guidance notes on printing the Drop Pod design templates to the
correct size. The notes accompany image file "Drop_Pods_templates.jpg".
The templates are fairly useless unless they are printed to the correct
size, so please take care to follow these notes. The image contains a scale
in centimetres. After printing, measure the scale with a ruler to check you
have printed it correctly (BTW, 1" = 2.54cm).
If you just hit print and use default Windows printing the software will
probably make some size adjustments and screw you up, so you will probably
want to print the file from your favourite image/photo editing program.
The image is exactly 3508 pixels by 2480 pixels, which corresponds to a
standard A4 sheet of paper at 300dpi. In other words, if you print the image
onto a standard A4 sheet of paper at the standard printer resolution of
300dpi with no cropping or other size adjustment, then the final print
should be correct. Alternatively, just print to the dimensions of an A4
sheet of paper:
An A4 sheet of paper is 297mm by 210mm (or 11.69" by 8.27").
Note to Americans: I believe A4 is a European standard, which is slightly
different in size to the standard US paper size. That shouldn't matter, just
print the image to the A4 size above.
In my case, I tested my design as follows:
I opened the image file using an evaluation version of Jasc Paint Shop Pro
Studio. I selected my printer (a very cheap inkjet printer) and under
'Printer Preferences' selected paper 'A4', format 'landscape', colour 'B&W'.
In Paint Shop Pro I selected 'Center on page' and dialled in the width size
297mm (you can select mm, inches or pixels). And I hit print.
Job done!
