Introduction

Naval & Air is not a period in history as such, but represents all non-land warfare throughout history, primarily naval engagements at sea.

I have variously collected the following naval forces:

• Ancient Galleys, Greek and Persian
• Napoleonic, English and French/Spanish
• Tsushima/Russo-Japanese War
• First World War Dreadnoughts, English and German
• Modern Italian Navy (c. 1980)

Rules

This is an area where you can really have fun writing your own rules. I have played around with various rules over the years, including galleys, Spanish Armada, Napoleonic, Russo-Japanese War, and I even wrote a full set for modern, i.e. late twentieth century (largely hypothetical) naval warfare.

Russo-Japanese Naval War

I have finished my rules for the Russo-Japanese Naval War of 1904-1905. See the Downloads page. The rules are based on "De Bellis Navalis" by Colin Standish, published in Wargames Illustrated #143 August 1999. "De Bellis Navalis" were themselves based on "De Bellis Antiquitatis" Ancients rules, published by Wargames Research Group. I have made quite a lot of changes to the rules as published in Wargames Illustrated, so they are in effect a new set. However, credit and thanks goes to Colin for the original idea.
